And so the Blog Begins...

I guess for some time now, I've meant to start a blog, or something like it to keep track of our BBQ escipades as the Three Sheets team ventures off into the world of Competition BBQ'ing.  All of us have a background in food, mostly eating and loving it, but in our own backyards and kitchens we are Titans of the Culinary world.

First, let's talk about the name.  When Brent and I first decided to embark on this BBQ adventure, we knew we'd need a team name, something that not only reflected the two of us, but could universally spread amongst our followers and team members as we grew.  Being the South Texas man that I am, raised guiding the till of a 22 foot Ranger sailboat on the Corpus Christi bay, with some Jimmy Buffet blaring on the old tape deck while my dad relaxed beer in hand, I knew the name had to be down right pirating.  That along with both Brent and my association with the finer things in life like vodka and whiskey, I figured a good drunk reference was always in order as well.  Alas as I sat with a bourbon and ginger ale in hand on a stormy night at my apartment in Irving, I realized I was about Three Sheets to the wind as my dad would say, and it hit me like the tornado blowing outside.  That's it, Three Sheets BBQ.  I informed Brent of the name, and he was stinkingly as drunk as I was that night, and of course it was a hit.  So now that's out of the way, let me talk about the rest of the team members today as we just get started in our BBQ world.

Brent Cooper - A full fledged food snob in his own mind.  Brent works in the food industry selling high end kitchen equipment.  Brent is a firm believer in the low and slow method of bbq, the Texas Style, where pork butts take 18+ hours to get to perfection.

Jason Griffin - Jason was a perfect fit for the Three Sheets team, one he's from South Texas like me and a fan of ocean breezes, and because it is a rare occasion when his Big Green Egg is fired up that a Wild Turkey isn't in his hand.  Jason aslo writes for his own food blog - Griffin's Grub, which is also in it's infancy, but i'm sure with his passion for food, and our soon to be wild tales from the BBQ circuit, his blog will be followed by millions.  Here's a link to Jason's own blog - http://griffinsgrub.wordpress.com/

Jamin Smith - Jamin is a late comer to the team, but he has a big truck and trailer, so how do you not include that guy?  Jamin is also from south texas, and a country boy at heart.  Many a nights in my late teens and early twenties were spent drinking cheap beer and even cheaper whiskey with Jamin.  He loves food as you will no doubt see when some pictures get posted, as all of it goes to his ASS!  We're glad to have him on board.

Well, for my first blog I feel a bit winded, so we'll see ya soon with more booze, food, smoking, grilling, and recipes.
